No article about romantic cities in Europe can fail to include Rome. Rome, the Eternal City, is a place where every corner exudes romance.

From its ancient ruins to its bustling piazzas, Rome whispers amore in a way only Italy’s capital can. It’s a place where history, beauty, and passion come together to create moments straight out of a movie.

Start your Roman romance at the Trevi Fountain. Toss a coin in, make a wish, and let the sound of the cascading water set the mood.

The glow of the fountain at night is pure magic—a scene made for two. As the Italians say, un sogno ad occhi aperti (a waking dream).

Rome’s romance doesn’t just live in its streets—it’s also in its flavors. Share a plate of cacio e pepe or a glass of fine Italian wine at a candlelit trattoria. In Rome, food isn’t just a meal; it’s an expression of love.

Prague is the kind of city that makes you believe in love at first sight.

With its fairytale castles, cobblestone streets, and a river that seems to sparkle just for you, it’s hard not to feel the romance here.

Start with the Charles Bridge. It’s the ultimate romantic cliche, but sometimes cliches exist for a reason. Strolling across it at sunrise (or sunset, if you’re not a morning person).

Street musicians set the mood, and the view of Prague Castle perched above the city is the kind of thing you’ll try to describe later but fail. Better to just share the moment with someone.

The Old Town Square is another must. With its Gothic spires and the Astronomical Clock doing its quirky show on the hour, it feels like Prague is showing off just for you.

But more importantly, there are cozy spots to sit and take in the view of the city below. Or go on an evening cruise. Bonus points if you bring a bottle of Czech wine to toast the moment.

Rue de l’Abreuvoir in Paris’ Montmartre neighborhood

Paris France

I’ll finish my list of the most romantic cities in Europe with off the City of Love, Paris. It’s a place of unabashed romance and (to some) the most romantic city in Europe.

Paris and romance go together like wine and cheese—classic, a little indulgent, and absolutely perfect. It’s the city where even the streetlights seem to wink at you as you walk by.

And while love can be messy, in Paris it feels effortlessly chic. Who needs a dating app when you’ve got the Seine, the Eiffel Tower, and croissants that could charm anyone?

Start with the Eiffel Tower, because you kind of have to. It’s iconic, it’s glittery at night, and it’s the backdrop for so many proposals that the tower itself is probably wondering if it should charge a commission.

And then there’s Montmartre, where romance practically steams from the cobblestones. This is the neighborhood for slow walks, hand-in-hand.

Paris isn’t just romantic—it’s flirty, indulgent, and unapologetically itself. From candlelit dinners in hidden bistros to lazy afternoons in the Jardin du Luxembourg, it’s a city that knows how to set the mood.

And let’s be honest: even if love doesn’t work out, you’ll always have the pastries.
